Coverage, costs and authorisations

We accept most major insurance plans and Medicare, verify your benefits before your visit, and handle prior authorisations on your behalf.

Insurance we accept

Premier Neurology accepts most major commercial insurance plans, Medicare, and a range of managed care programmes. Plan networks change frequently and vary by product line, so rather than publishing a list that may be out of date, we verify your specific plan directly.

Call the office at 718-814-4500 with your insurance card in hand. We will confirm whether we participate, what your copay or deductible looks like, and whether your plan needs a referral before you can be seen.

What we handle for you

Verification of your benefits before your first appointment
Referral assistance where your plan requires one
Prior authorisation for imaging studies such as MRI and CT
Prior authorisation for specialty and infused medications
Appeals when an authorisation is initially denied
Coordination of benefits where you carry more than one plan

Self-pay options

If you do not have coverage, or prefer not to use it, we offer transparent self-pay pricing. Ask for the self-pay rate when you schedule and you will be told the cost of the visit before you commit to it — not after.

Flexible payment arrangements are available for testing and ongoing treatment. If cost is a barrier to getting the care you need, say so when you call. There is frequently more room than patients expect.

Understanding your bill

Neurology billing commonly produces more than one statement for a single episode of care: one for the office visit, one for any in-office diagnostic study, and separate bills from the imaging centre and laboratory, which are independent facilities with their own billing.

If a statement does not make sense, call us before paying it. We will go through it line by line with you, and if something has been coded or processed incorrectly we will pursue the correction with your insurer.

Before your visit

Two questions worth asking your insurer directly: does my plan require a referral to see a neurologist, and what is my specialist copay? Knowing both avoids nearly every billing surprise we see.

We will check your coverage
before you book.
